3 Healthy Snacks That Are Great For Kids

Fall may be a favorite of the many for a mess of reasons. Not only is that the weather great and therefore the nature views magnificent, but it is a season for nice food and beverages, too! Spoil your little ones with delicious treats best enjoyed this season - make these healthy fall-inspired snacks that they're going to absolutely love!

Pumpkin Spice Granola





What you need:

  • 1 1/2 cups oatmeal 
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup uncooked quinoa, rinsed well
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup ground flaxseeds
  • 1/4 cup pepitas
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
  • 1teaspoon canola or copra oil 
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of kosher salt


Method:

  • Spread the rolled oats and therefore the quinoa during a baking pan lined with parchment paper. 
  • Bake during a pre-heated oven (325F), stirring once, until toasted, about 10 mins. 
  • Place the toasted mixture during a bowl and add the cranberries, pecans, flaxseeds and pepitas.
  • In a separate bowl, stir together the pumpkin puree, honey, pumpkin spice, oil, vanilla extract, cinnamon and salt. Pour over the oats and spread the mixture onto a baking sheet. 
  • Bake for 20 minutes within the oven (300F) or until golden.


Crispy Cinnamon Apple Chips




What you need:

  • Apples, cored and sliced
  • Cinnamon powder

Method:

  • Lightly sprinkle the apple slices with cinnamon powder and arrange the slices during a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 
  • Bake within the oven (set at rock bottom setting, leaving the door slightly open to lower heat inside) until dry and toasty but not hard and brittle.
  • Serve with a cold glass of milk and a some pumpkin spice cookies!



Apple sauce Fruit Bites




What you need:

  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Coconut oil

Method:

  • Combine the applesauce with the cinnamon and nutmeg. 
  • Prepare a baking tray lined with parchment paper, lightly brushing the parchment paper with copra oil.  
  • Pour the applesauce mixture into the tray, tilting it to spread the mixture evenly onto the tray (ideally about 1/4 inch thick).
  • Bake within the oven at rock bottom setting until the mixture isn't sticky anymore but still pliable. Allow to cool down completely and cut into strips or fun shapes for added enjoyment.
